Hilda's Chili (Not Really) Soup
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground beef (chuck or round)
- 3 Tbl oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 15 oz can diced tomatoes and juice
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 Cup catsup
- 2 Tbl brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 Tbl Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbl beef bouillon powder
- 3 Cups water
- 21-24 oz can baked beans or pork and beans (do not drain)
- 2 Cups small elbow macaroni, cooked
Directions
- Brown beef in 1 Tbl oil. Set aside to drain.
- Saute onions in remaining 2 Tbl oil.
- In large dutch oven or soup pot combine all ingredients and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
- When the air turns brisk and leaves begin to fall, it is time to cook up a pot of this very tasty soup. Eat it with plain old ordinary soda crackers. Mmmmmm.
