Hilda's Chili (Not Really) Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground beef (chuck or round)
  • 3 Tbl oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes and juice
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 Cup catsup
  • 2 Tbl brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 Tbl Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbl beef bouillon powder
  • 3 Cups water
  • 21-24 oz can baked beans or pork and beans (do not drain)
  • 2 Cups small elbow macaroni, cooked

Directions

  1. Brown beef in 1 Tbl oil. Set aside to drain.
  2. Saute onions in remaining 2 Tbl oil.
  3. In large dutch oven or soup pot combine all ingredients and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  4. When the air turns brisk and leaves begin to fall, it is time to cook up a pot of this very tasty soup. Eat it with plain old ordinary soda crackers. Mmmmmm.
