Ingredients
- EVOO
- 1 onion, 1/4in dice
- Salt
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1.5 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 c soy sauce
- 1 tbl sambal oelek
- 1 in piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 8oz can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
- 1/2 bunch chopped cilantro leaves
- 4 slices cheddar
- burger buns
- 1/4 c mayo mixed with 2 tsp sambal oelek or sriracha
- tomatoes, onion, lettuce
Directions
- Coat large saute pan with olive oil. Sautee onions over medium heat, 7-8 minutes until soft and aromatic. Add garlic and cook 1-2 minutes. Turn off heat and let cool.
- In large bowl, combine turkey, soy sauce, sambal oelek, ginger, water chestnuts, cilantro, cooked onions, and garlic. You can add 1/4 to 1/2 c water to keep burgers moist. Divide mixture into patties.(Recommended 4; we made 6)
- Coat saute pan in oil and bring to medium high heat (we used the griddler). Cook burgers 5-6 minutes on each side. Top with cheese and cook 1 more minute.
- Toast buns, assemble burgers.
